Erin and I put together a surprise birthday party for Camille.
More than half of the invitees did not make it, as we had a bad storm with a mix of snow, freezing rain and glazed roads that caused still more accidents in an already banner season for fender benders. And while that was a disappointment, I was glad that no one got hurt or had an accident getting to the party.
Camille was pretty emphatic that she did not want a birthday party, saying she did not want to be the center of attention. But I reasoned that we are now in a different part of the country, with more of her family easily accessible, and she has friends that I was sure she would be happy to see. Erin was a little worried that Camille would be upset by this, and made me promise to protect her! 😀
But I threw the dice high and it was a success! Because Erin held the party at her house, I was able to keep it a complete secret, and Camille’s surprise was complete!
It was really good to see everyone – her dad came up from California, her aunt came from Vancouver, and her sister from Wenatchee. Lots of smiles everywhere!
So, I thought it might be a good opportunity to post an image or two of Camille from the Summer of 1959, with her grandparents:
And while I’m at it, why not post a picture of what Camille was doing when I met her?
